In the Center of it all

Nestled in Eastern North Carolina is the City of Rocky Mount. A special place where trains make daily stops, the downtown is always bustling, and the community continues to grow and thrive.

Rocky Mount is in the center of it all — sports tourism, family fun and activities, culture, history, and diversity. It’s less than an hour drive from the state’s capital of Raleigh. It’s home to nationally recongized colleges and a state-of-the-art entertainment complex. For those reasons and more, the City of Rocky Mount is a wonderful place to do business.

Rocky Mount is home to more than 53,900 residents and spans two counties — Edgecombe and Nash. As of 2020, Rocky Mount ranked as the 20th most-populous city in North Carolina.

With its central location, Rocky Mount is served by three major highways: I-95, US 64 (future I-87), and US 301. In the downtown area, both US 64 Business and US 301 Business serve as major thoroughfares making the city a prime destination for business, industry, and travel.

Local industries have discovered Rocky Mount offers both a quick access to the CSX Carolina Connector Intermodal Terminal and to major ports in Wilimington, Morehead City, Savannah, Georgia, and Norfolk, Virginia. The city is home to the Rocky Mount-Wilson Regional Airport and is 69 miles from the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The City of Rocky Mount offers superior logistical transport options from anywhere in the area.

Tourists make their way to Rocky Mount via Amtrak, which provides three North and three Southbound trains per day at the Rocky Mount Station in downtown. Service includes routes to Washington, DC, New York City, Miami and Philadelphia.
