Student Success Commitment

Edgecombe County Public Schools serves more than 5,300 students in grades PreK through 12. The school system fosters a community of learning that gives students an “EDGE” in pursuit of four graduate aims: empowerment, determination, growth, mindset, and exposure.

Edgecombe Early College High School encourages students to be themselves and leave completely changed. Edgecombe Early College High School students commit to fulfilling a five-year course of study in which they earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree. The Early College has a mission to “create powerful educational experiences that foster academic excellence, personal growth, and global citizenship
while cultivating a lifelong passion for learning.”

EDGE Academy of Health Sciences is committed to uniting minds, igniting futures, and reimagining tomorrow. Edgecombe County Public Schools in collaboration with Edgecombe Community College opened the EDGE Academy of Health Sciences in the fall of 2023.  The EDGE Academy of Health Sciences combines academics and health science related fields to provide students opportunities to acquire credentials and certifications in pursuit of an Associate in Applied Science degree from Edgecombe Community College. All 8th and 9th grade students in the Edgecombe County Public Schools’ service area are eligible to apply for enrollment. 

North East Carolina Preparatory School “teaches and inspires through a challenging curriculum that integrates technology, experiential learning, and critical thinking skills; promotes diversity; emphasizes involvement of students, parents, and highly trained staff; and creates student leaders, all in preparation for post-secondary success.”

Rocky Mount Academy was founded in 1968 as an independent, tuition-based school with the mission to “prepare its students for the challenges, opportunities, and responsibilities that they will encounter in life and college.” Rocky Mount Academy is dedicated to small class sizes, a rigorous college prep curriculum, and a positive relationship between faculty, students and families.

Rocky Mount Preparatory School is a tuition-free, public charter school more than 1,000 scholars in grades K–12. Rocky Mount Prep is committed to educating, equiping, and empowering every student scholar to excel academically by providing equitable learning opportunities and collaborating with families and communities. The school centers its work around four core values: achievement, commitment, equity, integrity, and teamwork.

An EDGE on the Workforce

In the Carolinas Gateway Partnership region, we always have an edge up on workforce development and training. 

Workforce development begins in the K-12 sector so students are adequately prepared to succeed in college and in a career. 

From two-year degrees and college transfer options to career-specific pathways to focussed trainings and courses, students can select from a variety of options destinied to develop their talents for the workforce.

The EDGE Academy of Health Sciences offers seven pathways towards a career in the health science field with lab work in the Biotecnology and Medical Simulation Center. 

The Academy is one of the many workforce development and training avenues in the region which features innovation, collaboration, real-world experience, and community need.
