Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline of Eastern North Carolina
Ramping up
the future
The Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline of Eastern North Carolina (RAMP – East) is an educational and workforce collaboration specifically designed to increase the training, skills development, and hiring of the workforce.
RAMP – East brings together 8 community colleges serving 10 counties, and more than 70 industries in an innovative college-to-career pipeline.
The Carolinas Gateway Partnership answered the call from industries to establish a pipeline of job-ready individuals for the advanced manufacturing sector.
According to the NC Department of Commerce, manufacturing is a key industry in all regions of North Carolina, and within the CGP region, it is the top industry.
The CGP, as the governing organization, developed the RAMP – East. The program responds to the needs of local companies as it promotes skill development, connects residents to employment opportunities within a 45- to 60-mile radius, and builds economic growth for the counties and the region.
Created in 2018, RAMP East is the result of collaborations between the NC Community College System, the NC Department of Commerce, the Turning Point and Rivers East Workforce Development Boards, NC Works, local K-12 institutions, local economic developers, and the Carolinas Gateway Partnership.
RAMP East is a strategically designed system geared for success and consists of two components that enable a program completer to enter the job market: the Career Readiness Academy and the Advanced Manufacturing Institute.
